Biarritz is the historic surfing capital of Europe. In 1957, the American Peter Viertel, husband of the actress Deborah Kerr, was the first to surf the waves of Biarritz. Now known as one of the key surfing locations, Biarritz attracts surfers from all around the world. It is also home to surfing competitions such as le Roxy Pro in July, the world female longboard championship

The Basque country boasts not only a dramatic coastline offering great views either of both the Ocean and of the Pyrenees, picturesque landscapes with stunning views of the Pyrenees and their soft  foothills, charming little villages including three of the “Plus beaux villages de France” (Prettiest villages of France), Espelette reknowned for its red pepper drying on the houses facades, Itsassou and its black cherries marmalade, Biriatou… and many others with always the cherished and well perpetuated traditional basque architecture.

After school, why not try out the longest cycle route in France for an epic journey discovering the treasures of the Atlantic coast? La Vélodyssée is a dedicated cycling route over 1200 km  long that crosses 3 regions and 9 departments along the French oceanside. From Bayonne through the Landes Forest. Arcachon Bay, Fort Boyard, he Poitevin marshes, Nantes all the way to Brest!
